Desk-Top Laminators

Desk-Top Laminators

The Midas Series Desk top laminators are as popular and useful today as when they were 50 years ago. There are many important items that need the quality long lasting plasticized protection that a desk top laminator delivers. Laminated materials provide protection from weather, abuse, chemical spills and tampering. There are 3 Desk-top laminator sizes: a 4” wide model that is suitable for wallet-sized ID Cards, personalized safety tags, business cards, file cards, driver’s licenses and luggage tags; a 10” wide model that is used for laminating legal and letter sized documents, price lists, signs, 3-hole loos leaf sheets, material safety data sheets and photos; a 12” wide model that is ideal for laminating chart size material and menus. Laminating materials that can be used include clear, matte finish and pressure-sensitive.

When you purchase a desk top laminator it is essentially yours for life. The laminators are designed that way. They are made with molded silicone rollers that withstand very high temperatures. A brushless gear motor provides for a trouble-free life. There is a fan-cooled outlet table. A finned heat sink provides additional cooling. The chassis is grounded. Finally, the laminator fits within a strong metal case. And by some chance, a laminator should develop a problem; there is an unheard of five year warranty.

Laminating your materials is very easy with all three of the laminators. After plugging the machine into a grounded 120VAC outlet, move the 3-position switch to the “ON” position. Allow 3 minutes for warm up. Laminating temperatures start at about 260 degrees F. for thin 3 mil per side material and will be around 300 degrees F for 10 mil per side material. The set screw on the top of the laminator can easily be turned left or right to increase or decrease the temperature setting. When the material you have is ready to be laminated, insert it into the appropriate laminating pouch. Place the pouch into a cardboard “carrier.” Make sure the pouch is set completely within the carrier. Now move the 3-position switch to the “RUN” position. Place the carrier into the front end of the laminator and gently push it until it is picked up by the rollers. When the carrier is released by the rollers on the back end of the laminator, your material has been laminated. As it is probably a bit warm, wait a few seconds before removing it from the laminator. When you are finished laminating, turn the switch to the “OFF” position.

All three laminators operate on 115 volts, 50/60 Hz. (They are available in 220V series as well.) The laminators come with a precision thermometer which displays the heater platen temperature. Temperature is adjustable from 10 degrees F to 400 degrees F. All Midas Laminators are UL listed.
